Rainbow Palm

Aloha poets,
Rainbow palm inspires today's poetry. Enjoy!

Oppression Nostalgia

Extinct era drifts off into suffering past
The point of no stops could never last
Beyond the rings of the hammer logo
Sculptor garden sings of age long ago

Reminders of suffering as transition
Off to capitalism into a new rendition
Oppression memorabilia gestures slow
A job and something to eat in the snow

Likeness of icons deemed once a hero
Glimpses socialism set back at a zero
The young look at faults of the system
Older folk look back in history wisdom

Once the state owned the factory all
Only a rummage sale now to recall
What beast enhance socialist past?
Dust gathers to auction at the last

To view the purge as an old idea
On cue the urge tethered a fear
Socialism ghost drifts as symbol
Coastal nostalgia a gift so nimble

Secret police, old brick warehouse
The light of day for a memory douse
Nostalgia for parents, saw it their way
Only now comes as burden, children play

Central planning yes, it had its heyday
Socialism coalition swooped to sway
Old dusty ghosts come out to play
Oppression nostalgia drifts away
